|Rescue Me ID: 15-04-21-00409Sheena (female)|
Sweet and Gentle Sheena is looking for a second chance. Sheena has a sweet, calm and affectionate nature. She would be the perfect new addition for a family looking for a gentle new companion who is just the right size for hugging. This lovely girl has beautiful brown eyes that will melt your heart and your resolve not to let her on the couch in just a single minute. Sheena was surrendered to us by an owner who moved and could not take Sheen with her. Sheen lived alone in a basement for several months before she was surrendered to us, she has shown over and over again how grateful she is to be out of that dark, lonely place. Sheena is a border collie, basset hound mix and weighs about 40 pounds. She is approximately 9 years old but still active and loves to have a soft toy around to play with. She is well house trained, loves to go for walks and car rides. Sheena is used to sleeping in a crate at night and get along with kids and other dogs of all sizes. Sheena would do fine in a home or apartment, would do alright with or without another dog present and seems to really like kids so would be well suited to a family. She has received all her vaccinations and is fixed. Sheena came to us Heartworm positive but has received treatment for this condition. Her adoptive family will need to continue to give her 2 heartworm pills a month until she is fully heartworm free. Sheena has a wonderful, loving nature and is in need of a family that is willing to offer her a second chance at a happy life. If you think you could be a good fit for this sweet girl please contact her foster mom using the info provided on this site. ****Friend of Cats and Dogs Foundation preforms a home visit with the animal being considered for adoption so out of area/ state adoption will not be possible. We apologize for any disappointment this causes.**** (Less)

Some dogs are better at giving puppy eyes than the rest. Olivia excels at giving sad puppy eyes and is using them in full force in this photo to ask you if you need a new family member from Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, AL. She is a loving black lab/basset mix, already spayed, UTD with her rabies vaccine and promises not to turn on the puppy eyes when she wants a treat... She is available for adoption for our $30 adoption fee.

Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
