Bounce up and down just like a clown. Everyone knows he's Slinky! He's the hit of the day when you are ready to play! Everyone knows he's Slinky! Slinky is a neat 3 to 4 year old boy, already neutered, up to date on his shots. He has a very unique stance, as his two front paws turn out, something seen in breeds like Basset Hounds, sometimes nicknamed 'easty-westy' because the paws point in opposite directions. It doesn't hurt Slinky, certainly doesn't slow him down or prevent his jaunty little run, and is not something that needs to be treated (fancy name is carpal valgus). Slinky does pretty well on a leash, gets along with bigger and smaller dogs, enjoys car rides, loves being petted, and looks to be a mix of Basset Hound, Chinese Shar-Pei, and Lab. Slinky is waiting to have endless hours of fun with his new family, is available for adoption from Second Chance Shelter in Boaz for $30. (Less)

Brandy is a sweet girl whose owners had to move to an apartment where she was not allowed. She loves children and belly rubs. Crate trained and housebroken. She gets along with small dogs in her foster home, although she will chase cats and is not a good match for them. She needs a fenced yard as she likes to roam. She is microchipped, heartworm negative and has been given 3 months' heartworm preventative. Adoption application required.

Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
