My husband picked up this abandoned dog at a truck stop. She is friendly and healthy but too energetic to fit into our lifestyle. She is long and low to the ground like a Basset Hound and weighs about 30 lbs. She plays well with larger dogs who can withstand rough-and-tumble games of tag and fetch. She is friendly to everyone and would love to play with kids but would be too rambunctious for small children. She is housebroken and crate trained. Pulls hard on the leash. Does not come when called. Knows how to sit but doesn't stay very well. I need to rehome her because she can't run free on our farm because she'll take off, and she would be a danger to our cats if she got loose from the leash. I walk her daily but she needs a home where she can get lots more exercise. (Less)

http://findmypetahome.com/ranger/ Little Rock, Arkansas - Ranger is the quintessential 'country dog'! This squirrel-chasin' hound dog is a 47 pound bundle of love, looking for a home without other pets. Ranger is an adorable mix of Bassett Hound and Beagle. He is only 3 years old and is healthy, neutered and up to date on his shots. He has also been house trained and has great indoor manners. Ranger is being rehomed by his owners, who love him a lot. Unfortunately, Ranger does not play well with other pets, and they also have a disabled (3 legged) dog in their home. There have been quarrels between the two dogs, which is not good for either of them. Now that the owners are expecting their first baby, they feel it is essential to find Ranger the home he needs and very much deserves. He wants to be in a home where he will be a first-hand family member, living indoors with his family. He is good with children - just not with other pets. Please offer Ranger the home he needs and deserves today! (Less)

3/22/16 What do you get when you cross a Lab with a Basset Hound? A Bassador! And that's one of the most incredibly fun, loving breeds! Casey is 2 years old, around 50lbs, super friendly, energetic and just an all around great fella! If his adorable face doesn't melt your heart, his squatty little body will keep you smiling! That's gotta be good for a few laughs and he certainly won't mind! He's so happy-go-lucky he will probably laugh right along with you! All Casey is needing is a forever friend! Who can open their heart and home to this handsome boy? Visit us on Facebook at The Charleston Dog Shelter for more photos of Casey and our other great dogs! (Less)

Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Arkansas if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
