Basset Hound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Obese

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID Lois is a delightful Basset Hound mix, approximately 6 years old. She is playful, huggable, and quite well trained, especially for a hound! She knows sit, speak, down, and roll over, although the last is hard for her given her weight. More on that later! Lois is also house trained and crate trained. She loves to please, and is quite responsive to training rewards of treats and praise. She loves her people, if they are old enough. She is not fond of children and should go to a home with adults only. Lois is good with other dogs, and likes to play chase! We don't know how she is with cats at this time, but ... (Read More)suspect she would be fine (we can do proper intros with any prospect adopter). She walks okay on a leash, but does pull; quite hard sometimes; practice will cure that problem. In her foster home, she uses a no pull, harness style leash, which helps keep her walking steadily. Lois loves to ride in the car, and sits quietly in the back seat even for longer rides. She sleeps on a dog bed in her foster mom's bedroom, but would do fine in a crate if necessary. Like most Basset Hounds Lois loves her couch time and to be indoors where it is cozy and comfy! But remember she needs her daily walks to keep her healthy and happy! Lois is pretty easy to train, but can be a bit stubborn and will follow her nose wherever it leads. So no off leash for this girl! We would also recommend a set of pet stairs for Lois to make it safer for her back when getting on the couch (or your bed). Lois currently is about 60 pounds and should lose at least 15 pounds to have a healthy back, heart and lifestyle. Lois' adoptive home must agree to continue with her strict diet. A daily walk or two will make her weight loss happen that much faster. She recently had three fatty tumors removed from her back, so has a nice wide shaved spot in her fur. These type of tumors are common in hounds, and are not harmful. Other than her weight, Lois is a healthy, happy, silly girl who would do great in any adult household! Lois is, vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. If you would like to give this totally adorable girl a loving forever home, please fill out an application with Fuzzy Pawz Rescue: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ we know she would LOVE to meet you! There is a $100 adoption fee for Lois (Less)
