Rex is 52 pounds of pure love. He is crate trained, knows how to sit and fetch, loves to snuggle, go for walks and just sit and be petted. Loves all dogs and to be get and give hugs. He would be a wonderful addition to any family. Update: Hey there! My name is Rex and if you don't want any pesky squirrels or rabbits in your yard than I am totally your guy. I am great at following my nose and I'm very strong so I guess a fence might be a good idea so I don't get myself in trouble. After I come back in from keeping your yard pest free I can show you my world class snuggling skills because, not to brag too much, but I really am the best. I also love following my people around so I won't miss a thing. Other dogs seem pretty interesting so far and it might be fun to have a playmate or go to the dog park sometime but if I get the scent of one of those pests again my hearing turns off until I find them. I do listen well in the house though once you get my attention, especially with treats and the clicker, and I'm told I pick up on some things the people want me to do pretty fast but I do need more lessons. I love being goofy and playing but sometimes my humans throw my toys, which of course I like to chase, and I think they expect me to bring the toys back to them for some reason. Weird right? I'm curious to know what cats are but I'm pretty freaked out by them when they turn and hiss at me and try to scratch me so I think a home without them would be much nicer. Small people are so exciting and energetic and I since they are close to my size I like to try to play with them like another dog and because I'm strong and kind of clumsy I end up knocking them on the floor which no one seems to appreciate. I also really don't like it when they try to take my bones or food, even though I understand that the big people can, so I think I'd rather be in a place that doesn't have any of those little ones. I'm told that my wrinkly face, big brown eyes and slight underbite are adorable and I bet I can steal your heart in the first ten minutes I meet you so maybe you should come check me out today. If you are interested in hearing more about Rex please contact Vic at 262-496-9324. Adoption Fee is $350. (Less)

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Aaaaa-woooo! That is beagle-speak for HELLO! My name is Steinbeck and I am a 5-year-old beagle/basset mix. If you are looking for a devoted, lovable, huggable companion, it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am a super handsome tri-color (white, tan, black) fellow, and like the stories by the author after whom I am named, I am loaded with heartwarming character: I am funny, loving, entertaining, and if you give me the forever home I long for, I will never ever leave your side! My Fetching Tails friends saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control in August, where my previous owner left me when they could no longer take care of me. I needed quite a bit of TLC when my foster mom brought me home; I was very overweight and had a fully ruptured ACL in my left hind leg. But my foster family has been taking great care of me: thanks to a healthy diet, I have lost almost 15 pounds (I weigh about 40 now...foster mom thinks I could still lose a couple more pounds, but I am on the right track!) I also had surgery to repair my leg in October. It has been quite a journey complete with lots of bed rest, but I am getting around very well now and my leg feels SO much better! I feel like a new dog, and now I am ready to continue my adventure and find my forever family! I am a happy-go-lucky guy, and like many hounds, I love to spend time in the great outdoors sniffing all the lovely smells. I would love a fenced yard at my forever home so I can enjoy exploring and sunbathing. I also get along well with other dogs; I have a beagle, a doxie, and a 'mystery mix' as my BFFs at my foster home. I am playful, but have had to sit back and watch them run around while my leg heals; thankfully they also like long cuddle sessions so we have had a good time sharing my doggie bed. If you have a dog for me to be friends with, I think that would be so much fun! I think I would do best with older kids, and I would also do best in a forever home without cats. More than anything, I would love for my humans to be home more often than not because I simply love being around my people. It makes me so happy to lay near you, receiving belly rubs and head massages. My foster family tells me I am a well-behaved boy, as well. I am potty trained, and don't chew things I'm not supposed to in the house. I have a couple favorite toys I enjoy, and if you have to go out to run errands, I will settle down on my dog bed and wait for you to return. I do think I would do best in a single-family home instead of a townhouse or condo; I am what my foster mommy calls a 'storyteller' and I like to beagle bark to tell you all about my day, so it would be a good idea if we didn't share a wall with a neighbor who might not like my talking skills. I also think it would be nice if I didn't have to navigate too many stairs in the immediate future; I am still working on strengthening my leg so stairs are still a bit of a challenge for me. My fosters can fill you in with more details about my progress and how to make sure my leg continues healing properly! If you are looking for a dog who will be happy to be by your side through all of life's adventures, I am the handsome, attentive, LOVING boy for you! If you would like to arrange a meet-and-greet with me, please fill out an application and get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon! As much as I love my foster home, I am ready to start my 'happily ever after' story with my forever family! Love and cuddles, Steinbeck If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org/adopt or if any questions please email us! |Rescue Me ID: 16-08-06-00142Hannah (female)|
'AWW she is so cute', is the reaction sweet Hannah gets when anyone meets her! With short legs, her age and breed guess is April 15th. lab/hound. She was rescued from Kentucky along with her siblings, after being dumped at a high kill shelter. Looking for an affectionate pup who loves to be held and get belly rubs? Then Hannah might be a match for you! Her foster mom says she is really smart and catches on to training quickly. Already knowing 'sit', almost housebroken, learning to walk on a leash gives her a head start with her forever family. As a typical active puppy, she would really enjoy another playful dog in her new home. Running around the fenced in backyard, with her brother and foster siblings, is one of her favorite things to do. She will need someone home most of the day to continue her training and socialization. Even though she loves her foster family, she is looking for her forever family. If you think that might be you, please go to www.alwaysroom4morepaws.com for adoption information. There you will also find the application to fill out and send back. Thank you for your interest in adopting! *Breed, age and size are a guess and not a guarantee. **We are foster home based and always in need of more foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more puppies and dogs we can save from high kill shelters. Without out amazing volunteers, these puppies and dogs would never know what it means to be loved and taken care of. For more information on fostering, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. |PIease Read Before Adopting a Basset Hound in Illinois|
Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
