Meet Bear! Bear was originally adopted out as a puppy in 2016 but was recently returned by his owner when she said she couldn't care for him. We believe he is a basset/lab mix. He is just under 2 years old. Bear is a mellow, low key fella and likes to just hang out and relax. Bear prefers women over men, but does do well with both. Bear is short but hefty (which we are working on). Bear also lacks confidence and is very reserved. Bear definitely prefers dogs on the calmer side and tends to be frighten of those bigger than him. Bear is house and crate trained. No children for this guy. We will be fully dog and cat testing him soon. Bear is neutered and current on all vaccines. Interested In Bear? Please complete an adoption form from our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org and email to AHSAdopt@gmail.com. Questions/Inquiries can be directed to Cindy at 609-992-6649. Adoption fee $150 Last updated 10/20/17 (Less)

Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
