Rescue Me ID: 15-08-12-00420Mary (female)

Basset Hound    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you are interested in Mary please complete an application at: Please Note we do not normally adopt outside of the Kansas City, MO area. Mary likes some dogs but not others so a meet and greet would be necessary if you have a dog. Mary came to us from a rescue group in a small town. They were full and needed help. Mary was in a home for years then got returned to this rescue when the family dynamics changed. Mary is so gorgeous!!! She looks like a pure bred Basset Hound. The family said she was house broke. Mary loves people, loves being petted, loves being near her people. However, Mary does NOT do ... (Read More)well with all dogs and she does not do well with cats. She would not be a dog that you would take to the dog park or doggy day care because she doesn't like ALL dogs and has to meet new ones to be sure. Mary is so worth the time to meet and fall in love with. She is a loving baby that is looking for her forever family. Mary is in boarding waiting for a foster home to become available so we don't know how house broke she might be. She keeps her area soil free and this is a great sign she would be house broke.......but we can't say for sure. Our 2 week trial helps families that are interested in adopting her find out how much if any retraining she might need. Mary is a scent dog and follows her nose, especially when walking on a leash....she tugs quite a bit and needs a no pull harness or obedience classes to help her and her new family.....they are both worth it. Mary is a Basset and will talk to you in her hound bay (bark) to let you know how she feels. She doesn't bark all the time ,just when she feels she needs to tell you something.....if you are in love with the Basset bay then Mary is your furry kid......just give her a chance. Mary is going to make some family a wonderful companion. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-12-00378Stanley (male)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Stanley was originally adopted from Furry Kids several years ago and just recently returned when his family couldn't care for him any longer. Stanley first came to Furry Kids as one of a litter of puppies that were cruelly dumped in a duffel bag in a small rural Missouri town. Left there to die, they were accidentally discovered by a kind young girl. How someone could be so heartless as to dump them and leave them to die is beyond us, but thank heavens they were found! Stanley is a unique looking guy....we believe he is mostly Basset Hound with some St. Bernard in there as well. He looks more like a Basset hound with a long, heavy body ... (Read More)and short, thick legs. But his head is more square-ish and broad, like a Saint. He definitely gets attention wherever he goes! Stanley is now in foster care, having a good time with his doggie foster siblings and is great with his feline foster siblings as well! He is housetrained and is just a lovable goofy guy! He is shy at first but warms up quickly. Stanley's idea of a good day would include breakfast, a nap for a little while, a potty break outside where he can lay in the sunshine, a bunch of loving from his owners, another nap, potty break, dinner, maybe a short walk, and then finish with a cushy bed at bedtime. Yes, Stanley is a laid back dude that just enjoys life! Stanley does seem to have possible allergies and will benefit from eating a good grain free food. And because Stanley is part Basset Hound (a scent hound), we will require a physically fenced in yard for his safety. (Less)

Hi, I'm Kendra. I was abandoned along with my sisters Kimmie (dog473) and Tori (dog474). Like my sisters, I'm a friendly dog and would make a good family pet. I don't know why we ended up here but at least now we have a chance to have what all dogs want - someone to love! Do you need someone to love you?
