Who doesn't love a low rider??? We know we do! Buster Blue was saved from a high kill Texas shelter just this week and is now happily esconced in a foster home and loving life. He is a Bassett Hound mix who is just over a year old, and weighs about 40 lbs. His eyes and silky ears will make you fall in love at first sight. He LOVES other dogs and people of all sizes, and his foster mom describes him as a total love bug who is happy and playful and still a bit of a puppy. He may chew your shoes, and he will DEFINITELY pull at your heart strings. He seems housetrained, but like any dog transitioning into a new environment we would expect there will be a few accidents at first. Please note our dogs are saved from high kill shelters in TX and will be transported to NJ for adoption. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-04-04-00498GUS (male)|
How to explain Gus: Gus is approximately 10-12 years young, and weighs roughly 50-60 lbs. He is a lab/hound (??) mix. He likes attention from everyone he sees and even though he doesn't pull much on the leash he tends to gravitate toward all loose people in the world. He isn't really a snuggler but he loves to be on the couch with you. If you give him a room of his own plus free reign of the house, he will investigate for a while and then either go to his room to rest or sleep on the couch all day. He likes other dogs but because he is older he does better with the low energy friends. He is good around kids of all ages. He loves to go outside to explore but also likes to be loose, so a fenced in yard is best. He is also a Houdini so a reinforced gate would be best. He used to be on his own as a stray for 8 months so he likes to be either outside running around or inside sleeping. He is not food aggressive but does get a little pushy about treats so he does better with rawhide chews in his room. He is housebroken but due to his age does need someone who can take him outside more frequently. IF he barks when you bring him back inside then he is not done and still needs to go back outside. He is a sweet wiggle worm who is very loveable and deserves a good home with someone who can appreciate all of the love he has to give. Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in New Jersey if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
