Rescue Me ID: 17-10-16-00327Bear (male)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bear is a sweet boy who was a stray taken in by a Good Samaritan a few months ago. He's between 1-2 YO and is 39 lbs. She has been working with him to get him ready for his forever home. His personality has a great combination of playful, friendly, submissive, quiet, affectionate, energetic, and laid back. He has a gentle soul and can be independent, but yet, your best pal. He can be somewhat active, but if he's allowed to run, he's very active. Bear is being fostered in a home with other dogs of many sizes and he's either playful and friendly with them or ignores them. So far, he's been playful with cats in a controlled ... (Read More)environment, but we'll be testing him on this more officially soon. He gets along well with children, but has a tendency to get excited and jump up on them so he's getting instruction on not to do that. He has been known to get out from under fences not reinforced or those that are too short. A four foot fence properly grounded would be fine and it must be sturdy since he's not used to being in a fence, but he's learning quickly that this can be a fun place. He loves car rides and is calm and quiet. He loves to either play or just hang out; he's happy no matter what he's doing. Bear is house trained and leash trained, but at times he'll sit down when walking. He's crate trained, but is not really fond of going into one. He's working in these areas and making remarkable progress each day. Bear is a chewer and will need appropriate toys. He loves ropes toys which distracts him from chewing. While he doesn't have separation anxiety, per say, when adopted to a forever home, we suggest he be crated to start with to minimize chewing. It's obvious he was shown no attention in his previous life, and is now learning how to be a companion. He has tremendous potential and just loves to cuddle. Bear would do best in a home with experienced dog owners who are active with canine companions he can run and play with at his energy level. (Less)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Don't let his serious look fool you ...this is a 10 month old goofball of a pup. Sociable and absolutely adorable ...just looking at Jeffrey makes you smile. Amazingly Jeff was found wandering and no one has claimed him. He is very skinny but has a magnificent Redbone coat, the squat body and long ears of a Bassett and stunning green eyes. Jeff is smart and alert, good with other dogs, probably not good with cats. He is only 32 pounds and will fill out but not get much bigger. We will neuter on adoption. If you know and love Bassett's step up fast, Please fill out an application at www.CrisisDogsNC.org We require excellent references and a ... (Read More)home visit, but we respond right away. We will also transport to an approved home. Jeffrey is now at a high kill shelter with a week left. (Less)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Baxter has a great temperament with most dogs and people. Baxter is prey driven and enjoys chasing small animals (rabbits, possums). Baxter is neutered and due for his rabies shot. Baxter is also deaf but will sit for a treat. He is very low energy inside the house, he spends most of his time sleeping. He does enjoy being outside and chasing small animals. He is house broken and does not chew. He is not crate trained. Please help me find a home for this sweet boy.

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs. Summer's Story... My name is Summer and I'm a collie/basset hound mix. While I'm short in stature, I'm big on personality and love. I am a 38 lb female and already spayed and up-to-date on my vaccinations, heart worm preventative and flea/tick medication. I am a low-energy dog who prefers to cuddle and play with my dog siblings. Not a big fan of walking on leash, I prefer hanging with my family. Since I am part hound, I love to sniff and meander around the yard. My Mom likes to give me hugs and kisses and I am happy to return the favor. I am ... (Read More)crate trained and house trained. While Mom's away, I prefer the safety of my crate with some of my toys. I feel safe in there and would like a family who will continue this training with me. At night, I love sleeping near my Mom or my Sister. I'm still working on my manners during family mealtime, but picking it up quickly.
