Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Looking to re-home due a strong 'guarding resources' behavior (aggression over food, bed, and toys) that has caused him to attack both our other small dogs in the two weeks since we adopted him from the local shelter. He growls a warning for a moment, but then attacks until physically removed from the other dog. This behavior did not present when we interacted with him prior to adoption, but now we are concerned for our 4-year-old's safety. He has a nice demeanor otherwise, is house-trained, knows basic commands, and loves fetch and stuffed animals. Would be wonderful in a home/apartment with adults/older children and no other pets.

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We adopted this 'bagle hound' mix about two weeks ago after observing and interacting with him at our local county shelter. He is about 16 pounds and around 5 years old. He is healthy and handsome with an average energy level, needing a couple good walks or play times each day. He is house-trained, responds to basic commands, sleeps in his own dog bed at night, and loves stuffed animal toys and playing fetch. He initially seemed like a good fit to our household since he has been generally playful, comfortable, and happy with our other two small dogs and our 4-year-old daughter. However, the reason we are looking to re-home him is because ... (Read More)we have discovered he can snap and attack due to aggression in regards to food, toys, and bedding. During some meal times, he has to be corrected several times to avoid his jumping up and grabbing 'people food,' and his food aggression has caused him to attack our miniature dachshund twice in the past two weeks. He has also attacked our other dog (a chihuahua terrier mix) when it started nosing a toy that was beside him in his dog bed. He does not stop attacking until we physically separate him from the other dogs. Now we are concerned that he might snap with our daughter, even though they have been getting along great together. He would probably be a wonderful pet in a home with older children and with no other dogs. (Less)

Animal ID: DoogieDoogie (male)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered

DOB: 10/1/12 Weight: 46 lbs If you love Bassets, then you will love Mr. Doogie and his deep bark, plus his crooked fat front feet. Doogie is 46 pounds of playfulness. His favorite toy is a big red Jolly Ball because he loves to toss and throw it. Doogie can be a little rough while playing, so older children would be better playmates for him. He is leash and crate trained. Doogie would be best as the only dog because of his rough playing. Now he does love to dig and bury his toys, then go back and check on it over and over. We try to limit our travel time for home visits to a two-hour driving range (about 75 miles) from Morganton, NC. ... Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy is a 3-4 year old tri colored Beagle/Hound mixed male. Apparently trained and lived life previously as a hunting dog. Several months ago our organization finally rescued the emaciated stray beagle known as the 'DG Stray' after two years. Now known as Buddy this sweet natured and loving boy was a stray for those two years but at one time had a caring owner. Upon intake he was malnourished, dehydrated, filthy, and needed TLC and food. Once settled in we began to see more of his personality and traits like his obsession with scent trails. Someone taught him to hunt which is all Buddy loves to do and whenever the urge arises Buddy will ... (Read More)find a way to satisfy it. Including escaping to outside wooded areas where he runs and alerts for hours until returning home tired. He also requires crating that must be medium sized for him to feel secure. Loyal, loving, affectionate, playful and sweet describes buddy in addition to lazy and laid back. Great with other dogs, cats and humans buddy is very well socialized. He is crate-kennel trained and house broken. Fully vetted, vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, HW tested, and updated rabies vaccine are all included in Buddy's adoption fee of $125. Adopters must be experienced with his breed and hunting dogs. Must be willing to make all necessary precautions to avoid escape. For more information or to schedule a meet & greet contact us. (Less)
