Poppie was found by a kind lady, along the side of the road far from any houses. We have been unable to find her owners; so she is looking for her forever home. Poppie is about 9 weeks old (as of June 20th) and working very hard at her house training. She is crate trained, and up to date on her puppy vaccines. |Rescue Me ID: 15-06-21-00221Rosie (female)|
HI...My name is Rosie. I am a young(3-5yr old) beagle mix. I am mostly beagle but my person thinks I have about 20% basset. I am red and white in color and weigh 31bs. I am seeking a loving person or family that is going to give as much love as I have to give. My person thinks I am one of the most loving dogs in the world. So...what's my story???? Here it is. I wound up in a high kill shelter out side of Atlanta when the people I was living with just up and moved, leaving me and my lab brother behind in the apartment. Lucky for us...the landlord found us pretty quick. We ended up at a high kill shelter. My brother got adopted and then there was just me. The shelter has a wonderful photographer that takes really good pictures of us that show our personalities. I guess my picture ended up on Facebook and someone liked it enough to get more information on saving me. Between the director of the shelter and a lady named Lynn in NC, I am now in Chapel HIll NC. I hitched a ride with a trucker to Morresville NC and was picked up by my new person. Before the shelter let me go they drew some blood and I came back positive for heartworms:( No biggie. I started the slow kill with monthly heartgard and doxycycline. I survived the first dose so I am good to go. I guess the first dose can be really bad with not good outcome...but I did ok! My likes are....car rides, kisses, snuggles, kids, seems I like cats ok, playing and hanging out. My only dislike seems to be dogs that show any dominance or aggression...I respond with what I am getting from the other dog. I was ok with a 14yr old basset because he was just that...a 14yr old basset. I was suppose to have a play date yesterday and I was met by a dog that wanted to kill me:( I think I would like being with a dog that is not a butthead. My person has other dogs and one is an obnixious little boston terrier. She hates me and my person says she has little dog syndrome and can't change. So...I desperately need a forever person. My person REALLY wants to keep me and has fallen head over heels in love with me. She says I am a very special soul and a companion dog that would be so perfect for someone that has just lost a spouse or just needs a best friend. I am housetrained and don't chew up anything. I sit and am working on stay. I bark when I am left alone but do stop after a bit( I don't like being alone...what can I say). My person says I am smart and I have to agree. I am not perfect but no one is. I would like to be with someone that will work with me teach me. My person is doing phone interviews and can arrange transportation just about anywhere for the perfect person or family. The one requirement she has(and me too), is that you kiss me every day...I like kisses. If you think you might be the perfect person call Lynn. Please share and share and share Peace Love and Paws-Rosie (Less)

Bear is my name and love is my game. I am approximately two years and I'm a basset hound and lab mix. I am short like a basset hound and loving and playful like a lab. You could say that I am the perfect combination. I will make a wonderful family dog! If you would give me chance, I could show you how loyal I really am.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-05-18-00218Gwen (female)|
Hi, my name is Gwendolyn (Gwen for short). I'm so excited to meet you! I am about 7 months old, and I'm a Yellow Lab mix. I have a heart condition that requires me to take a very inexpensive medication. I am unlikely to live to be an old dog, but I can still do do all the wonderful things that puppies do. I have a lot of spunky energy and love all people, dogs, cats and kids! I'm super playful and I run around with my foster's dogs in the back yard all the time. I LOVE laying on a big soft bed and rolling around with a toy, and of course I love a Kong that's way too big for me. What pup doesn't? I hope you'll consider welcoming me into your family. I love my fosters, but I want so badly to find my new home and family. She may not have 10 years to give you, but she has so much love, personality and affection, and is hoping there is someone out there willing to give her the best home! (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-04-27-00047Marlianne (female)|
She was going to be put to sleep because AC had held her for 10 days & no-one came for her...but, the vet wanted me to meet her first..so happy, so sweet !! maybe a heafty 30 lbs...long and low !! paws turn way out...so cute..sad to look at the heavy collar /electrical cord that had either rotted or was chewed to let her free from apparently being a 'yard ornament'. She should house train quickly...do crate training , like puppies !! ************************************************************************* ADOPT OR FOSTER: Please see our home page for links to our applications: www.LoveMuttsRescue.org CONTACT US: LoveMuttsRescue@gmail.com JOIN US ON FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/lovemuttsrescue VISIT OUR WEBSITE www.LoveMuttsRescue.org for information on UPCOMING ADOPTION EVENTS. |Rescue Me ID: 14-01-12-00253Elmo (male)|
Elmo is a 6 year old Black Lab mix. Elmo has spent his whole life outside in a 10x01 kennel. When he came into foster he had never been inside a house. He has spent the few months just learning how to be a pet. He was very comfortable out in my fenced yard but would freak out in the house. He was afraid of everything inside. I had to actually go outside and leash him and dragged him in. Then it started to get cold and he finally decided that sleeping inside wasn't so bad. He will now come in when called and actually comes to the door and comes in own his own. Elmo has never gotten on any of my furniture or chewed up anything. He has been the perfect house guest. He has discovered the big fluffy dog beds that appears just before bedtime each night and boy has he become really fond of them. Elmo had never when for drive in the car and getting him in was quite a nightmare. We have been working on this for sometime now and he doesn't mind riding and is okay once he's in the car but is still a little hesitant about getting in. Elmo hadn't had much leash training and at first walked in 10 foot circles. Guess he was just so used to only having 10 foot to walk before turning the corner in the kennel. He is doing really good on leash. Does still pull a little but is doing better every time he's leashed. Elmo will come up to be petted but is not a real snuggy huggy kinda fellow. He is very loyal and will be right there with you and I'm sure with some time and patience he could become a snuggle bug. Elmo graduated from the 'New Leash on Life' program at the local prison where he spent 8 weeks being trained. He knows sit and stay really well. Elmo is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on prevention. Adoption Fee $150.00 (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Basset Hound in North Carolina|
Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
