    Meet our sweet Velvet! Velvet is a hound/boxer mix, weighs about 35lbs and is 3-5 years old. Velvet came into our rescue VERY pregnant and immediately went into foster care where she gave birth to her litter of 9 babies!! It did not appear that this was her first litter, but she has been a wonderful mama to her puppies, and now it is time for Velvet to be done taking care of babies and have her chance to be spoiled! Velvet is such a gentle and loving dog and you can tell that she has longed for a home where she could just lay her head on something soft and have human attention. We will be at the Petsmart in Falls Church, VA on Nov. 1st and the Petsmart in Willow Grove, PA on Nov. 2nd and she would love to have her forever family there ready to show her some love!     Winfield is a 10 month old Bassador (Basset Hound/Lab mix). Winfield has the body of a lab with the legs of a basset. This handsome and fun loving fellow is sure to be a hit while escorting you to the park. He is good with other dogs but a little hesitant with kids and their sudden movements. Winfield is a ladies man and finds men to be a bit overwhelming. He is super sweet and craves attention. This low rider is neutered, micro-chipped, and current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $275 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $325 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate.     Here is handsome Sam! He is a dachshund/Bassett Hound mix. He was just rescued, along with his siblings, Daisy, Duke, Fuzzy, and soon to be rescued, Tootsie. They came from a shelter in WV who was wonderful enough to let us take them and find them the perfect home! He has suffered some medical neglect, so he will be heading to the vet soon for a checkup and neutering. As soon as he is done with all of that, Sam will be ready to find his forever home!     Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
