|Rescue Me ID: 15-04-21-00302Quinn (female)|
Meet Quinn, a 5 month old, female Lab/Bassett mix who is 29 pounds of pure sweetness! Quinn is a shy, submissive girl that loves to be petted. She is working on gaining confidence and, in doing so, has found that she loves to meet new cats and dogs. Quinn has small legs like a bassett and, while she loves exercise, prefers her walks to be on the shorter side because her legs get tired. She is working so hard with crate training and housebreaking and aims to please. Quinn is spayed, current with vaccinations, and fostered in Dover, PA. We are PA Caring for K-9's is an all breed dog rescue. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $275 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $325 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. We are an all volunteer organization and we are always looking for more help. |Rescue Me ID: 15-04-06-00617Colt (male)|
The shelter named me Colt, but my foster mom calls me 'Brownie'. I am approx 8-10 months old and people guess I am pittie/basset hound/boxer mix. I love to play and snuggle on the couch. I am quiet in my crate and sleep in there all night. I am crate trained and I am so close to be house trained. I am a bit shy and timid with people at first but I am slowly learning to initiate love and snuggles. I would do best in a home with another dog to play with and learn from and gain confidence. Come meet me at upcoming meet and greets!

|Rescue Me ID: 15-04-06-00073Peggy (female)|
Peggy is a 2 year old Beagle/Bassett mix who has had a rough start to her short life. This sweet little girl who loves unconditionally had not known compassion until she was rescued. Peggy is ready to leave her past behind and work on a brighter future. She is a playful and active little girl who enjoys a romp in the yard and chasing toys. Her foster is teaching her how to live with other dogs without feeling threatened. Peggy is housebroken, and crate trained. She is making great strides with time, love, and patience. Peggy is spayed, current with vaccinations, and fostered in Mount Wolf, PA. We recommend continued positive reinforcement training post adoption to keep Peggy moving on the right track. |Rescue Me ID: 15-03-23-00123Gracie (female)|
Gracie is a young basset hound mix. She is a hearty eater, but because she isn't very active in the house, she has gained weight and is somewhat overweight. In order to prevent back or leg problems, she must have regular exercise. She has a great deal of endurance, so she enjoys taking long walks.Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to training Gracie. Unless you can persuade her that it's something she wants to do, she can be stubborn and difficult to train. But...if you are up to the challenge and have or would like to have a daily exercise regimen, Gracie may just be the girl for you.

Copper can't wait to explore all of the local hiking trails with his new family. He loves to go for walks, and we're sure his smiling face and wagging tail will motivate anyone looking to stay active this summer.

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Basset Hound in Pennsylvania|
Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
