Rescue Me ID: 15-05-20-00726Clyde (and Bonnie) (male)

Basset Hound    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

One of those pleas for assistance where your gut tells you to assist. And I am glad we did. Meet Bonnie and Clyde. 6-7 year old basset hounds by the vets age guess. Their owner became disabled so they were no longer used for breeding and it was too hard to care were backyard dogs for the last three years. We took them straight to the vet and the there we were shocked. The vet called and said they had never seen a case of fleas so bad ever and that is a lot to say for a vet in South Carolina! After three flea dips, they were still crawling all over Clyde. The water running off was blood red and they were so anemic, a spay surgery could not ... (Read More)be performed and they had to stay overnight for additional care. Their eyes are infected and after several flea dips and treatments, they finally appear flea free. The seem much happier now! Wait until you see the pictures the vet took of the flea infestation. Poor babies! Clyde has already been neutered but Bonnie will not be able to be spayed for a while. It is obvious she has had several litters the vet says. :( To top off their journey to an awesome life, they are also both heartworm infected. They need to be on a few months of preventative before fast kill treatment is attempted if attempted at all. Clyde weighs 46 lbs and Bonnie weighs 45. Bonnie and Clyde love car rides, enjoy eachother's company and Clyde appears quite bonded. Both are also good with other dogs large and small, ignored the cats, and the pigs. Sweet low riders! They are adoptable now with a mandatory spay contract for Bonnie and fast kill heartworm treatment expense covered by For Belle's Sake if treated through our vet in Sumter SC when they are deemed able to go through it. Standard adoption fee of $150. (Less)
