Meet the adorable Doug! Doug is an approximately six year old Basset mix. He loves hanging out with his humans and his doggy friends! Doug also REALLY loves naps! He has a very laid back temperament and gets along with everyone he meets. He is especially gentle with young children. As you can see from his pictures, Doug is a bit robust around the waist! He is working hard to get back to his buff, manly figure! A perfect day for Doug includes a walk with his human and then a nap on a comfy bed! He doesn't really like to be left alone for long periods of time, so a family that is home a lot would be the best kind for Doug! Doug's ... Rescue Me ID: 17-09-13-00085Coco of Halifax (female)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Date into Rescue: 09/07/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Found as stray Foster location: Chris & Missy in Rocky Mt, NC Special Needs? None Weight: 5 lb Height: neck to tail 10' and withers 7' as close as I could get with a moving object Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? One that is understands the time and energy it takes to raise a puppy. Coco is a sweet and smart girl, but she is full of energy and needs lots of training (just like any puppy). What is my personality like? She is very gentle and sweet by nature, but she is currently teething and still needs to learn a lot of things. How do I ... (Read More)act when I first meet new people? Very friendly; she is a puppy and loves everyone! More tips and tidbits: Crate trained. Very social. House trained? Has started working on it! Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est birthday 07/13/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. (Less)
