Rescue Me ID: 14-12-16-00276Norman (male)
Meet Norman! This handsome bassett/beagle mix is laid back and lovable. He came to us from the upstate and is ready to find his forever home. He is good with other dogs, will absolutely require a fenced yard (that hound nose leads him astray), loves kids and everyone he meets. He is the perfect dog for any home. He is heart worm positive but has already started treatment so don't let that sway you. His $150 adoption fee includes neuter, vaccinations, microchip, worming and heart worm treatment

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-09-00791Weeble (male)
Weeble wobbles, but you can't keep him down! This little boy is not only the cutest fella ever, but he also is a very special boy. He was born the end of September from a breeder and sold. The buyer of Weeble noticed after a couple days that he walked funny and took him to the vet. We are not sure what was diagnosed as vet information was never given, but Weeble was returned to the breeder. Weeble has a genetic condition which causes him to not be able to walk properly on his hind legs. After x-rays, our vet diagnosed that his knees are backwards and he has hip dysplasia. Those are the issues causing his disability, but he also has a slightly enlarged heart and slightly deformed ribcage and only one testicle. The vet is not concerned with those problems, but we are working on his joint issues. Unfortunately, they can't be fixed but can be managed. Through a generous donation, Weeble has a Walkin' Wheels wheelchair that will grow with him. He can walk for a little bit but after a while, will drag his hind legs and that can cause open sores, infection, etc. He will need daily therapy to include message and joint mobility exercises, as well as daily walks without his wheelchair (indoors only). An adoptive family would need to be prepared for any future needs Weeble may have. As of right now, he is learning to use his wheelchair and is doing well. This boy has spirit! Weeble has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, and ready for his forever home. Weeble will be adoptable to a special person/family who understands his needs are permanent and will require lifelong exams and maintenance. He is a sweet boy with a big spirit and lots of love to give! A video of how he walks can be seen on our Facebook page at For Belle's Sake Rescue. Please visit forbellessake.org or like us on facebook to follow his story or complete an adoption application if interested in adopting! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-04-00154Molli (female)
Molli is a sweet girl who needs a home with adult companions who can snuggle her and give her love. We took Molli in after her single male owner passed away. Our home with children and other animals is not suitable for her. She is very sweet and loves to cuddle especially sharing the bed! The only known health issue is a cyst on the back of her head that grows and then drains. It may be able to be surgically removed but hasn't been a bother to her. Please only contact me if you can give her a forever home where she can relax and lounge and be with adult companions.

Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
