|Rescue Me ID: 17-01-06-00296Miss Harley Jean (female)|
Miss Harley Jean is a beautiful and sweet 3-year old Basset mix that we rescued and adopted two years ago from a chained yard. She did not have much, if any, interaction with humans or other animals her first year with previous owners. These past two years with Harley have been wonderful except for her food aggression around our two smaller and older pups, which we've worked out with a separate feeding area, and except for her very recent jealously/aggression toward them when she's in an excited state. Harley Jean would make a fabulous pet for an individual or a family, including children, who doesn't/don't have other pets and can keep her exercised with lots of play time and walks. She's a very smart and obedient inside pup who LOVES to cuddle on the sofa and equally loves going on long walks so that she can 'hunt' and go wherever her nose leads her as long as I can follow! (And, yes, she's always on a leash outside as we don't have a fenced yard, but she sure would love one!) FYI, Harley probably has some Bluetick Coonhound in her as she looks very much like UT's Smokey, but we're not positive about that. (Less)

This small sweet girl must have had a tuff life. Looks like making pups was her reason to live. She is a beautiful mix of a small Basset and beagle mix. She is shy and needs a minute to get that trust established. It seems that she had minimal interaction with people. She brings great little moments as she learns that getting touched feels good. I know if your heart is open to including this beautiful girl in your life .. she will a very special companion. We think she is maybe three years old. Gets along with cats and other dogs. She is submissive so he has not been with any playful big dogs here yet. Thank you for considering adoption and choose carefully. Call or write us for more info. (Less)

Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
