The current adoption fee is $125 which includes the dogs spay or neuter and Rabies vaccination at a local vet, and covers the distemper/parvo vaccine and bordetella vaccine and dewormings it receives here at our shelter. After you have brought proof of your dogs spay/neuter back to the shelter $50 of that adoption fee will be returned to you, or you may choose to donate it so that another dog can be spayed or neutered at our shelter. By TN state law stray dogs are held for 3 days so they can be found by their owners before being put up for adoption or rescue. A dog found as a stray wearing a collar is held for 5 days before it is put up for adoption or rescue. Our shelter is a first come first adopt/rescue facility.There are no holds placed on dogs for potential adopters/rescue. They are available at 7am on the day they are available and must be picked up and paid for at that date/time. An adopter or rescue cannot call and hold a dog to be picked up at a later date.     Becky is a five year old Beagle/Basset mix, also known as a Bagel, to those of us in rescue. She has a very sweet temperament and craves attention and affection. Becky is house trained and crate trained. We are working on her leash training and she is doing very well. Becky does well with other dogs but is a little nervous around larger dogs, does very well with small dogs and with cats. She is a little nervous around small children but does fine with bigger children. Becky prefers being in the house but also enjoys outdoor play time and walks.     Basset Hound Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Basset Hound is an exceptionally gentle, friendly dog that makes a great family pet. Basset Hounds are great with children. They require some patience to housebreak. Basset Hounds can do tricks, especially for treats. If overfed, a Basset Hound can quickly put on weight which strains its legs. Basset Hounds need plenty of exercise to stay healthy, but should be discouraged from jumping so as not to stress their legs. Basset Hounds can live in an apartment but need long walks and opportunities to run and play.
