Basset Hound Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have been fostering Lucian since June 8, 2014. On June 3, 2014 we saw him get injured in the street in San Antonio. Not knowing what else to do we took him to ACS. I asked how long he would have there before possible euthanization because just in the short time he was in the truck I fell in love with him and couldn't stand for him to be put down. They said just until Saturday the 6th. I called to check the severity of his injury the next day and was told he had a fracture on front leg by elbow and it was painful. So they placed him on kennel rest and pain meds. We ended up fostering him to save him and thanks to God he has healed up so ... (Read More)well. We took him back for his vet check on June 19th and the vet was amazed at how well he was doing. He barely has a limp and he can run really good. If you didn't know there was an injury you wouldn't be able to tell. He plays alot with our 6 yr old who is VERY active. Though he likes to play he also likes to just lay down and be loved on. He has been kept inside the house since we brought him home and he is 95% potty trained. Very sweet and friendly. Listens well also. If we were in a position to adopt him right now I would have done it in a snap. ACS has him as a basset hound mix but personally I think he has a few mixes and he is definitely a conversation piece. I put that he wasn't good with other dogs only because I have one other dog and he was very interested in checking him out with ears perked up. I didn't let it continue on just in case it wasn't a match and a fight would have broke out. I didn't want anymore injuries. So for all I know he might get along well with other dogs...just wanted to be on the safe side. **VERY IMPORTANT** HE HAS TO GO TO GOOD LOVING HOME WHERE HE WILL NOT BE TIED!!! (Less)

*** ASK ABOUT OUR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT OPTION FOR THIS PUP *** Dolly is the ultimate companion pup! She is a Basset Hound mix pup who is about 3 years old and approximately 50 lbs. She has a definite Princess disposition and loves to be in the spotlight of her human's life, but she does need someone who can ensure she knows her boundaries and limitations and understands you are her alpha leader. A bit of a walk every day, some playtime with her and her toys, along with giving her about 15-30 mins of running around the backyard and rolling around in the grass and she's good to just chill around the house the rest of the time. Her favorite ... (Read More)spot? Right smack in the middle of the bed, if she's allowed, or her own bed! She'll lay there for hours. Dolly is potty trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. She even knows how to use a doggy door. The best home for her will be an individual or couple with a relatively calm environment (no young kids!). Dolly gets nervous and can become unpredictable if there's too much going on around her, and even though she loves playing with older kids and other dogs, especially small dogs, it is too much energy for her and she can react in a sudden and negative manner. It's not her fault it's just who she is or has become as a result of past experiences. She really will do best in a home where she can just be herself! In return she will be the most loyal lady you can imagine. She has so much love to give and will be a joy for the right individual or couple to share their life with!! More about the breed: The Basset Hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. It fits into family life well. It is mild but not timid. It can be a bit stubborn with meek owners and needs a firm, confident, and consistent owner who displays natural authority over the dog. With proper training, they are obedient, but when they pick up an interesting smell, it's sometimes hard to get their attention, as they like to follow their noses. If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. The link to this form can be found on the home page of our website, http://dfwpuppatrol.com. It can be submitted via email to info@dfwpuppatrol.com or faxed to 972-767-4849972-767-4849. All of our adoptable pups have an adoption fee of $200, regardless of our expenses, and it includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test for pups 6 months and older, heartworm treatment if tested positive, deworming and/or fecal test, parasite treatment if tested positive, microchipping, any immediate known health issues, and pups 4 months and older are kept current on monthly heartworm prevention. Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hey there! My name is Sammy and I am an energetic, playful and affectionate girl. I am also very decisive....I like interior decorating with my toys and I know exactly where I want them to be. My foster dad will gather up all of my toys in the evening and when he wakes up in the morning, I've shown him exactly where I really want them to be! I think he moves my things on purpose, just to see if I notice! I love to be around people and I am very affectionate, once I get to know you. I'll spend time doting on you, in between loving to go on walks, and chewing on my treats. I have spent my entire life with my mom, Molly, so I haven't had much ... (Read More)interaction with other dogs, but I love to play with her. When we go for walks, I'm OK with the other dogs, so I'd probably get along in a multi-dog household. However, animals smaller than dogs, such as squirrels and cats usually realize it is a good idea to run away from me. I have mostly been kept outside, but I do go into my foster Dad's workshop at night and I have learned not to make a mess. I haven't had a lot of training up to this point (I was rescued from a very horrible situation), but my foster parents both say that I am very intelligent, and will learn very quickly once someone is around who can show me what I should do. I really do want to please. I'm a little more than 1 yr. old and fully grown, weighing in at about 35-40 lbs, so I'm pretty muscular, despite having very short legs. I'm very adorable and would love to have the chance to live inside, in a forever home with a very affectionate family. If you would like to meet me, please contact info@redcollar.org. (Less)

Do you like good looking dogs with short legs? Yes, you say? Well, then I might be the dog for you. I'm a very interesting mix of basset hound and something else...possibly boxer. I am an extremely loyal and devoted gal. I was living in a very bad situation with my daughter, Sammy, when suddenly a very nice man swept us up and said he would take care of us until someone would adopt me. Because of this, I'm a bit of a serious sort of dog, but when I'm with Sammy, we play and play. I'm a very good mother and I make sure that she doesn't get into things that might hurt her. I'm very smart, inquisitive, and energetic. I love going for ... (Read More)walks...long or short, any walk will do. Would you like to meet me? Please contact info@redcollar.org to set up a date.     Bilbo is about a 7 month old plot hound/ basset hound mix who had a rough start. He came into foster care after being found with a fractured back and unable to walk. He was nursed back to health by the wonderful veterinarians and clinic staff at ACS and has since been thriving in foster care. He runs and jumps and plays all day with his foster brothers and sisters, he loves to wrestle and chase your feet.
