Rescue Me ID: 15-05-26-00706Autumn (female)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Picture taken 5/25/15. Autumn's owner moved 5 months ago, and finally told me on 5/25/15. Autumn appears to be a Schnauzer/Basset mix that I had spayed on 8/21/09, and her last litter of puppies was born in 2008. She is house trained, good with cats, loves people and children, and loves to go for rides. Her front legs remind me of a Basset. On 5/25/15, she was given a bath, Comfortis flea pill, worm medicine, and on 5/26/15 was given Ivomec for heartworm prevention. She is estimated to have been born around 2006 or 2007, and weighs around 35 pounds.

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-23-00035Bitsy (female)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi folks, my name is 'Bitsy' and it pretty much fits my personality! I am spunky and active for a small dog. I love to play with my foster sisters in the backyard and find neat stuff to chew on - you know, bark and dead leaves and toys that my family provides for me. Be assured I am NOT destructive, but I do love to taste things!! My foster folks are working on the little 'nibbling' thing. I don't nibble hard enough to hurt, but, just like most babies, I like to put stuff in my mouth to see what it is!! I have discovered that I really, really like human friends and I follow them all over the house. I love to play fetch with stuffed toys and ... (Read More)balls. I love to snuggle on the sofa and watch TV. I love to sleep in the bed with my fosters!! I also don't mind sleeping in my little crate long as it is next to their bed'|. and'| I can make it all night without going potty. Sometimes, if I get really busy playing I forget to ask to go outdoors, but I use the paper that my foster mom keeps down outside my hut. Oh yeah..I have a nice roomy hut (pen) in the breakfast area that I stay in while my mom works upstairs or while the family is away. It's nice because I can see everything and still feel secure in there. Also I eat in there so I don't try to eat the special food my foster siblings get - probably wouldn't like the stuff anyway! They are both old but they are really good friends'|they have taught me a lot about behaving nicely!! I also live with an old cat'|he doesn't like to play so I mostly just keep my distance, but he seems to like it if I bark at him sometimes!! I have learned to sit for treats'|this was a challenge because at first my foster mom couldn't tell that I was actually sitting since I have such short legs!! But hey, these legs can get me around pretty fast. We are working on leash training because I just know I will love to go on walks with my family. I am friendly to all the visitors that come around'|.they always reach down , give me a pat and tell me how cute I am! You know, love is what makes a family'|.I have had plenty of it here with my fosters, so I have a lot stored up to give to my Furever Family!! Bitsy is a female Basset Hound mix and we estimate that she was born around March 6, 2015. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come get the dog and bring them home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vaccinated. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 5533 Weslayan St. in the Weslayan Plaza Shopping Center Houston, TX 77005 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Waldo is a part Bassett Hound male that was dropped off at our rescue by an unknown person. Waldo has a great sense of humor and has the Bassett Hound ears and long body. He runs so cute and wants to be by you every moment of the day. If you ignore him he will act like true Bassett Hound and bark and howl until you give him your full attention. Waldo is housetrained and will just pitter patter around your home making sure you are close by. We believe Waldo to be between 2-3 years old. His coat is so soft, it is almost like velvet. He has the typical short Bassett legs but that does not keep him from running with the big dogs. If you ...     Meet Archie! He was rescued from the Garland shelter and was the most neglected dog we had seen in a long time. He was extremely mal nourished and not very trusting of humans. Archie was saved by his awesome foster home and has made a complete recovery! He loves people and has put on much needed weight. He weighs around 75lbs now. He's a sweet boy. Good with kids and other dogs with proper introductions. He's not very fond of cats. He's willing and trying to learn new things (sit, stay and come). Animal ID: 15855 FosterCashew (male)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Update from Foster Mom: Cashew is a sweet young guy who has had a rough start at life and was not treated well. He is a Jack Russell/Bassett Hound mix. He is less than one year old and has not only been mistreated by his former family, he was also, based on his anxiety and suspicion of men, most likely abused. He is fine with men at the dog park, but he seems to feel he has to protect his foster mom in her home. He is a smart well behaved guy and acts more like an older, mature dog than a rambunctious puppy. He had figured out a food dispensing ball so quickly!! He also has separation anxiety and is uncomfortable when his foster mom ... (Read More)is out of his sight. He does fine in a kennel during the day, but barks for a while until he settles down. Again, his foster mom feels a lot of his anxiety is a reflection of his previous treatment. He has all the signs of neglect, abuse, and being left alone for long periods of time. He is a wonderful cuddler and stays in his foster mom's bed all night without any issues. He has had a hard time with house training, but after a recent visit to the vet's, we have discovered he has a urinary tract infection. Hopefully, after antibiotics and more consistency, he will have no trouble picking that up. Cashew would do well in a home with other dogs and children and will probably warm up to the right fellow with some love and care. He adores women and shows no anxiety at all with females. Cashew so deserves a chance at a happy loved life!! He is neutered and vaccinated! Cashew #15855 - Looking for a super cute puppy who is the unlikely mix of a Bassett Hound/Jack Russell Terrier? Then Cashew is the perfect dog! Although only around 6 to 8 months old, this baby has had a rough start to his life. He recently was owner surrendered to the shelter because the family was not able to keep him due to personal issues. However, you would not know he has been through any tough times by his playful and loving personality. He has the unique bark of a Bassett Hound, which sounds so cute coming out of his little body. However, you can definitely see the Jack Russell in his personality and appearance. Cashew needs a forever home ASAP because this puppy deserves a brand new start to life. Neutered and vaccinated! Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Barrett is 2.5 years old and believed to be a hound mix. He is very friendly, and loves attention any way he can get it. He is crate and house trained, but he can be trusted to stay free in the house for a full workday without making a mess or destroying anything, especially if he has lots of toys. He has never shown any aggression towards people, other dogs, or cats. His experience with small children is limited, but he has given no reason to think he would be anything but loving toward them. He will let you know when he needs to go out, and only barks loudly when there is someone on the property he has never met. He would prefer to ... (Read More)come to your home with his little brother, Logan (ID #15-04-20-00340 on the site), but, if he can't, he would do best in a home with another dog for company. He does well at dog parks, and loves a good run, but will calm down after a bit of unstructured play. Finally, although he's a larger medium-sized dog, he loves to lay with his head in your lap and cuddle with you. (Less)

Sloan is an amazing cuddle buddy. He may take a bit to get used to you..however ear scratchies and milkbones should do the trick. He is very playful and bouncy at points but other than that he lazes around.     *** ASK ABOUT OUR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT OPTION FOR THIS PUP *** Dolly is the ultimate companion pup! She is a Basset Hound mix pup who is about 3 1/2 years old and approximately 50 lbs. She has a definite Princess disposition and loves to be in the spotlight of her human's life, but she does need someone who can ensure she knows her boundaries and limitations and understands you are her alpha leader. Dolly should be an only pup as she can be very territorial and possessive. A bit of a walk every day, some playtime with her and her toys, along with giving her about 15-30 mins of running around the backyard and rolling around in the grass and ... (Read More)she's good to just chill around the house the rest of the time. Her favorite spot? Right smack in the middle of the bed, if she's allowed, or her own bed! She'll lay there for hours. Dolly is potty trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. She even knows how to use a doggy door. She has been through a basic training program and knows basic obedience commands. The best home for her will be a committed individual or couple with a relatively calm environment (no young kids!). Dolly is the most loyal lady you can imagine to her person or peeps. She has so much love to give and will be a joy for the right individual or couple to share their life with!! More about the breed: The Basset Hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. It fits into family life well. It is mild but not timid. It can be a bit stubborn with meek owners and needs a firm, confident, and consistent owner who displays natural authority over the dog. With proper training, they are obedient, but when they pick up an interesting smell, it's sometimes hard to get their attention, as they like to follow their noses. If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. The link to this form can be found on the home page of our website, http://dfwpuppatrol.com. It can be submitted via email to info@dfwpuppatrol.com or faxed to 972-767-4849.
