Rescue Me ID: 14-10-11-00261Ranger (male)
Ranger was rescued from life on a chain, but sadly DDB has not found a foster home for him yet. He has had to be boarded at a vet clinic for months. Ranger seems to be a Basset Hound mix since he is very low and long. He is about 15 months old. This super friendly guy has a great personality. He loves people and other dogs, even little ones. Since Ranger likes to chase cats, it would be best for him to go to a home with no cats or one with a very dog-savvy cat. He will need some training in house manners and basic obedience. His ideal home would have a yard where he can play off leash and maybe another dog to keep him company. Are you the wonderful person or family who can give Ranger a loving home? He will repay you with slobbery kisses, snuggly cuddles, and all the love you will ever need. Please apply to foster or adopt Ranger today. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-28-00740Velvet (female)
Meet our sweet Velvet! Velvet is a hound/boxer mix, weighs about 35lbs and is 3-5 years old. Velvet came into our rescue VERY pregnant and immediately went into foster care where she gave birth to her litter of 9 babies!! It did not appear that this was her first litter, but she has been a wonderful mama to her puppies, and now it is time for Velvet to be done taking care of babies and have her chance to be spoiled! Velvet is such a gentle and loving dog and you can tell that she has longed for a home where she could just lay her head on something soft and have human attention. She will come lie by your side and just be happy to spend time with you. Her foster mom reports that she is great with other dogs, kids, great when left alone in the house and is house trained. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. We will be at the Petsmart in Falls Church, VA on Nov. 1st and the Petsmart in Willow Grove, PA on Nov. 2nd and she would love to have her forever family there ready to show her some love! She is available for pre-adoption at this time and you can apply for her online at www.tracysdogs.com. Her adoption fee is $300. She is absolutely precious and is looking for her forever home! *Please note that not all dogs can attend every event. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete an adoption application on our website. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-25-00889Rerun (male)
Rerun was found in a ditch on the side of a road in Mechanicsville; he was lifeless, all of 11 lbs and literally a feeding ground for the mammoth sized fleas crawling in and out of his eyes. I took him home to clean him up, feed him, and give him a warm place to die in dignity, but he survived the night. I decided if he was going to fight for his life, the least I could do was get him medical attention. The vet addressed the immediate concerns which were Sarcoptic Mange, Hookworm, flea and tick infestations and heart worm testing. After 14 days of antibiotics he came into the care of the MAPR vets who discovered the need for immediate surgery on a hernia. Upon X-raying the area in his abdomen, the injury was in the shape of a boot that leads us to believe it was due to blunt force trauma. His intestines were leaking into his body. They also found two puncture wounds on his hind leg that would not heal. Upon further inspection they found a tooth imbedded into his leg. He spent three months in a large crate on bed rest due to the heart worm treatments and 2 months in an XL cone. Today, he is full of life and love. Mornings are his favorite and he loves to sit by the bed and just wait for me to wake up. He then runs in circles and bounces around to head outside and explore the yard. He still has a feverish appetite and has become a little sneaky goofball. He is always playing some prank around the house, climbing in grocery paper bags or getting stuck under the bed. His favorite things are the sun, a warm porch, a warm lap/couch, and a friendly back scratch. He is extremely low key and is truly looking for his lifetime partner in crime. Big Dogs tend to make him nervous and fearful, so he will not be adopted to a home with large dogs. He does fine with small dogs (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-12-00348Miles (male)
*This dog can only be adopted within the Washington D.C. metro area.* Howdy, Miles here. I'm a hound with a heart of gold. Take me out for walk and I'll show you what a lover boy I am. I'll lean on your legs and beg you to give me some scritches on my neck and behind my soft long ears. I'm about six years old and a sturdy 63 pounds. Look at this mug! Really can you resist these basset wrinkles? I think not. Plus, I've got a fun, but calm demeanor -- just perfect for a family dog. Hope to see you soon, Love Miles Please see FOHA website for more details: http://foha.org/index.php?id=27&petid=972

Animal ID: 9006361Monday (female)
Monday appears to be a Basset Hound and is almost 5 years young. Looking at her, she looks very similar to the much fancier Bassett Bleu de Gascogne. She has a short stature like a Basset Hound. She is medium sized and weighs 50 pounds. She is playful and very attentive to the person she bonds with. Monday needs plenty of activity as she has a tendency to put on weight. She is a bit playfully pushy with some dogs, but usually gets along okay with most dogs. She is really into her person. She is a sweet girl and she enjoys going on walks with you. Monday is one of our prison 'graduates'. She has been trained to sit, stay and come! She is good on a leash, is used to a crate and is not easily startled. She would love to have her own person discover her very soon and bring her home. If you would like to meet Monday please submit an adoption application online at www.barkva.org or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 804-449-BARK. (Less)
