I do better with women but please do not hesitate to call if you are a soft-spoken gentle man. Hi my name is Oscar and I am a cross between a Basset and a Dachshund - how awesome is that? A while back my family forgot to pick me up from the dog sitter so they brought me to a shelter in northern Wisconsin to find a new home. Later I was transferred here to Washington County Humane Society (WCHS) in Slinger and I am very optimistic about finding my forever family. In my new home I do want to be your one and only dog because other dogs make me very nervous; I really prefer people to other dogs. But cats would be OK though - cats do not scare ... (Read More)me and I am very respectful of their correction. I do prefer women and I am somewhat uncomfortable with kids. Any children in my new home should be 15 years or older because I get nervous with fast movements and loud noises; I also tend to guard my resources a bit. I do not like it when people are around my food bowl or when I am enjoying a goodie. I am hoping that my new home will help me work on this behavior. The shelter staff has all sorts of great tips to help me slow down when I eat and be more comfortable with people when I am eating. I am pretty good about all sorts of handling. I turn it into a silly game and will roll over so you can scratch my belly and I can rub all over you. I am about 9 years old and I am looking for a calm household where a distinguished gentleman such as myself can flourish and enjoy a life of leisure. I am a friendly, affectionate and clever little guy who knows how to sit and come when called. I will show you how well I can do those things and then impress you with how gently I take a treat. I am the absolutely perfect size for any home - about 30 pounds and I have a gorgeous auburn coat. Stop by to meet me in person and check out how adorable I am - I am sure you will fall under the spell of my profound brown eyes and we can have a wondrous life together. (Less)

Buddy is a sweet, energetic boy we adopted from Eastshore Humane Society about 7 years ago. He's somewhat suspicious of men, and doesn't like sudden noises like fly swatters. He's been very unhappy since my husband and I divorced and my daughter and I moved back to the city. He needs someone who has the time and attention he so desperately craves, and we want that for him.
