Clyde has been a great addition to our family. He's a little crazy at times, but such a love bug. My daughter and I recently lost buddy, who was a Basset Hound as well and a love bug as well. I also have a Basset/Beagle mix, Princess. She and buddy had known each other since they were puppies. She was so down and sad after loosing buddy. I wasn't sure if bringing another dog into our life would be a good thing or not. Princess is almost 10 years old and wasn't sure how she would react to Clyde. Princess was basically a rescue dog from a coworker who really didn't pay much attention to Princess or Buddy. They were never taught how to play or be a normal dog. Bringing Clyde into our life brought a lot of life into Princess. She now will go out with Clyde and play. It's so great to see Princess having fun. I'm still not clear on what happened to him or why no one would want Clyde. He just wanted to be loved and payed attention to. He is quite the lap dog so we are still working on that. He also seems to think he's a cat or something, he walks and sleeps on the back of the couch. And jumps from the couch to the chair. When I saw him I knew he was the one, ironically he looked a lot like Buddy, but the name Clyde was what caught my attention. My dad passed away three years ago and Amy animal he came across he would always call them Clyde whether that was they're name or not. My daughter just loves him to death. Clyde has found his forever home with us. Welcome home Clyde. Thanks Rescue Me!

We posted Freda on Friday with several interested in her. On Sunday, a family notified us they would love to come meet Freda. They were approved for adoption. Freda went out to greet a woman, a man and a 12 year old girl. They all fell in love with our attention loving Freda. Freda is a queen in a new home with a fenced yard and two brothers to play with too. Rescue Me is a wonderful service!

I am fairly sure were found a good match for Hooper. The husband grew up with their parents raising hounds so I felt he has a very good idea what kind of care is involved. Besides, he served this country for 10 years. How can I not let him have Hooper? I actually reached out to another rescue, but they didn't call back. It lead me here, which seems to be a good thing. The hardest decision of my life, but I believe its the best for Hooper. Thank you so much for your help, Rescue Me!

I rescued those two awesome brothers just over a week ago. Once I posted on this website, I got some texts, emails and phone calls quickly. A wonderful lady had been looking for a Basset Hound for a while, and was excited to take both and keep the brothers together. Not a lot of extra money, so I didn't worry about the money I posted for a donation to this great website. She gave me some cash for my gas; it was a road trip for both of us. I know they are in a wonderful, loving home! Thank you, Rescue Me!

Molly is so sweet and playful. We were able to find a family who is looking for a dog like Molly, especially for their 10 year old daughter who has autism. It was recommended by her therapist to get a dog that has energy and who is playful. It was a perfect match! Molly will be missed here, but it is comforting to know how much attention and love she is getting. Thanks, Rescue Me!

I found an excellent family for Flash that I feel will make him a beautiful home. He has acquired a new friend, Clyde, that will keep him from any loneliness. This was the hardest decision I have ever had to make but I truly believe it was the right one. Rescue Me was a true lifesaver for Flash. In a matter of minutes from posting his picture, I was getting numerous calls interested in him. I can't thank Rescue Me and his new parents enough for saving his life. -Michelle

I follow Rescue Me on Facebook, and Fred popped up on my news feed. It caught my eye that he was close by, but I immediately fell in love with him. We have another Basset Hound that we were wanting to get a playmate for, so I inquired about him and they chose us to adopt him! We brought him home yesterday to his new brothers and his three year old little human. We are all in love, and so thankful we were able to give him a new home in the country, where he can run and do what Bassets are born to do!

He is going to a home where he will get undivided love and attention. We will stay in touch with each other, and they promise to share pictures and updates on how Duds is doing. Everyone is very happy. I thank Rescue Me for their amazing platform to help people connect with others to find homes for our animals.

After posting his picture online, the calls started coming in that afternoon and he was adopted to his forever home and loving family two days later.      Thank you, Rescue Me. Sophie found her forever home. She snatched the Golden Ring and is living with a great family nearby. And she has a basset older brother named Winston!! Life is good. She has her own couch and curls up with her brother to sleep plus Sophie wiggles her way into bed to visit with Sharon. There is a lot of good hearted people who love animals, but it is those few certain deeply caring people who choose to adopt the seniors even knowing their life span is half over. Bless those people, and bless Sharon and Carson for being those 'special' people.

I rescued an adorable six year young Bassett named Maggie. I was determined to find her a forever home without Rescue Me. I'm afraid this wouldn't of happened. I had many folks inquire about her and finally connected with the right family. Maggie will stay with us until her new family returns from the holiday and then her new life begins she will rule a two acre lot filled with animals and have her very own family to love and who will love her. Thank you.

Rescue Me put me in touch with many interested parties. As a result, I found what I consider to be the perfect 'forever home' for Olive, in a lovely setting just 10 minutes from my home! So, I may be able to see her and even dog sit when they travel. She is settling in quickly, and has lots of new places and things to sniff and explore and new adoptive parents to 'train'. I am grateful to Rescue Me! You made the adoption process so much easier and less stressful. I know Olive will be happy, continue to be spoiled and loved.

Odyssey was adopted. His name in the dictionary means 1: a long wandering or voyage usually marked by many changes of fortune. 2: an intellectual or spiritual wandering or quest. I believe both meanings fit this, especially blessed, heartworm positive puppy. Odyssey was found wandering the streets. Odyssey is a nine month old Corgi/Bassett hound puppy. Officer Fuentes rescued Odyssey and brought him to a veterinary hospital where he stayed in a small cage. He had been roaming around for a while because he appeared very dirty, hungry, thirsty yet very grateful. He was eventually transported to be boarded. Officer Fuentes took photos and eventually took him to the vet to get vaccines. We followed the 'seven business day hold' protocol awaiting their human parents to claim them. No calls came in. No one wanted a heartworm positive puppy. I started receiving inquiries on Odyssey from Rescue Me from a woman named Beatrice. After several emails and phone calls, Beatrice and her husband Mike 'just knew' Odyssey was to be theirs. We had Odyssey neutered and he had some healing issues and was back and forth to the vet. Beatrice sent me pictures of her and Mike's beautiful home in the country on a horse ranch with their two dogs and horses. We discussed Odyssey's medical history since he'd been with us, and we discussed him flying to their home. Officer Fuentes felt that flying may not be suitable for a heartworm positive puppy. Beatrice said she would work on another option. She informed me that her husband Mike would be driving or flying during the week to come get their new fur baby. I was ecstatic with joy for Odyssey's new life! Mike landed safely and rented an SUV. We met at the veterinary hospital. Mike spoke to the vet about the heartworm. He filled out the adoption paperwork as he bonded with his new four legged fury son. When he finished, I put 'Odyss' in the animal control truck with me, and Mike followed as we set out for a shopping trip. 'Odyss' got a new crate, pillow, cloud neuter collar, treat and food for his long ride home. I felt like I could cry as I watched Mike sitting on the tailgate enjoying watching his new puppy munching on his treat in his new crate. I had to get back to work so we parted ways. Beatrice emailed me pictures the next day of her, and the dogs. She promised to keep in touch and has sent emails and pictures since. Thank you Mike and Beatrice for everything you went through to give this wonderful, stray, heartworm positive puppy an amazing Odyssey!

Albert was released by me into the arms of a lovely family. Although it was difficult to give this sweet guy up, I feel confident that he has a loving home to retire to. He met his new brother, Charlie the Irish Setter, just this afternoon and they were polite to each other right from the start. I can see that Albert will be smothered with hugs and tickles by his new two legged sisters. Albert is not perfect, but none of us are, so I am glad he is joining a 'dog' family. People with experience, older children and gentle pets. Thank you Rescue Me!, you are truly a dogs best friend when they are in need of a new home and family. I will be donating to your efforts as soon as I recover from the Holidays. A million thanks and warm wishes to you.

WOW!....That's all I can muster right now!! I got involved in this situation kind of 3rd, 4th, or even 5th party, and after hearing the story, the challenges, and that we had less than 48hrs to change this precious girl's life (and, most likely, SAVE her life), I admit that I was skeptical and fearful. I literally stayed up ALL night creating, posting, searching, linking, emailing, and pleading to anyone, and everyone, who was notably associated with Basset/Senior/Handicapped dogs, from Coast to Coast...all the while, I got more and more worried that it was too late - that we didn't have enough time to help a 'special' orphan - that I failed... But then, like a symphony, my Blackberry email alert started sounding; and it kept sounding, over and over and over!! It seems that no less than 6 people/orgs were replying back to the email that I had sent by using the Rescue Me Email tool; an email that I sent via links I found using the Rescue Me 'Animal Rescue Group' search tools, no less!!!! It's an email, and an effort, that truly never would have existed if not for RescueMe.Org!! About her: She's a dog that I have not yet met, do not know the name of, & have no 'real' connection to; she's a dog that is at least 10 years old and is blind in one eye; she's a dog that had less than 48hrs left before the City Agency was going to seize her; and she's a dog, that for all intent and purpose, really didn't have much in her favor to even suggest that she was going to 'be okay' - or so it appeared.... BUT THEN, in an hour's time, she became a dog that is going to be successfully rescued by House of Puddles, in Maryland! (by the way, did I mention we're in Texas?!?!? lol); and she became a dog with a future, and hopes, that her Forever Family will soon find her there!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, RescueMe.Org & Jeff Gold; I AM BLOWN AWAY!!! I wholeheartedly support you, I am making a small donation to you, and I am going to tell everyone I know about you!!! God Bless! Gratefully, Kathleen Corazzo

I love your site, and have posted a few of your dogs listed on my Facebook page. Anyway, I have Miss Lula who joined Sporty my cat and Lucy my Lab. She has been home a while and now sleeping on the couch. Miss Lula has heartworms but is being treated, her past owner was wonderful just paying for a surgery before adoption instead of putting her to sleep. Lula is my second Basset and she is a blessing to me. Thank you so much for Rescue Me! and I will keep up with posting some on my Facebook page. Theresa

Dear Jeff, After losing our third beloved Basset Hound to cancer last summer, we were ready to start looking at the option of another member of our family. I had searched online for several weeks and none of the options seemed to fit. This lovely lady tricolor Basset was recently posted on your site. She was really an owner relinquishment at this point after having been rescued from Craigslist a little over a year ago. After email contact with her present owner, we made arrangements to meet last night... and the rest is documented in the pictures attached to this note! :) I am sure we will all have to make some adjustments, but she is well on her way to becoming the pampered beauty she deserves to be! Thank you! Catherine

I posted our baby girl, BonnieSue on 3/21, got 2 hits within hours, and happily, on 3/23, we found the perfect family for her! Bonnie had been rescued, as I like to call it, from a life of sadness having to live outside year round with no family interaction! We had her for 1 1/2 years, to be my husband's dog, but from day one, for some unknown reason, she was never comfortable around him, always barking and growling at him when he entered a room. She never did this with any other men, so after long, painful reevaluating, we made the difficult decision to give her up. I am so very happy that she is in a loving home, making friends with the other pets in the family. The family has already sent me pictures of her being loved on. This affirms that I chose the right place for her and that all my love to her was not in vain. I know she will have a good life. Thank you for allowing me to post her adoption success story.

Dear Mr. Gold: I would like this opportunity to thank you for your work and for your wonderful website. I posted 'Peppers' on Sunday afternoon and by Sunday night I had two families interested in giving her a home. I am in the process of making transfer arrangements with 'Peppers' new owners. In the future, if I hear of someone who wants to adopt an animal or needs to find a new home for one, I will definitely tell them about your site. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU and Peppers thanks you, too. Sincerely, Doni

Daisie was adopted. I thank you so much for 'rescue me'. Within hours after posting Daisie, our bassett hound - I received numerous phone calls and emails inquiring about her. The website reached out to the different shelters and dog clubs. I spoke with a very nice lady, Betsy, who was with a local Bassett Hound club. She assured me that they will find someone that could adopt Daisie. And they did. I received a phone call from someone wanting to adopt her and they lived less than 2 miles from my home. We got together and they are the nicest people and Daisie is happy. I will make a donation and I will refer anyone to use the website. We also have a terrier listed and I have received phone calls and emails on her, too. This next weekend, we are meeting some people that would like to meet Addie, too. This has been very emotional for me and my family - but, rescue me put us in touch with the right people. Thank you. I thank God that there are people in this world so kind and generous to our animals. Thank you. Maryjo G.

Hi Jeff, Blue did find a perfect forever home through Rescue Me and my husband and I are tremendously grateful for the wonderful service the site provided. Our privacy has been thoroughly protected and we had very qualified adoptees interested in Blue. We do a lot of independent foster/rescue work and will be using Rescue Me again in the future!      Hi Jeff, Gator did find a home and I couldn't be happier. I like most Americans have fallen on hard times and I am being foreclosed on which leaves my housing up in the air. Not only losing my home but my friend, Gator has been so difficult. I fortunately found a lovely couple willing to give Gator a home. Thank you for your website and when I get on my feet I will make a donation to Rescue Me. Thank you very much! Sincerely, Kerri

Rescue Me was great and we were happy to help a Basset in need. Your organization was able to obtain information faster and more accurately than my attempts to the shelter where the dog was located. We certainly appreciated all of the help coordinating the adoption.
